1. Scope of this Policy
This Policy applies to the Step Lantern Android application provided by KOWA. It covers information processed through the App and describes the choices available to users.
This Policy does not govern third-party websites, applications, device manufacturers, mobile network operators, app stores, or operating-system services that may have their own privacy practices.
2. About Step Lantern
Step Lantern is an offline productivity utility that allows users to create multi-step routines, assign a timer to each step, run routines one step at a time, pause or complete steps, and review a limited local history of completed routines.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
KOWA does not collect, receive, transmit, sell, rent, or share personal information through the App. In particular, the App does not collect:
- names, postal addresses, telephone numbers, or email addresses;
- account credentials or authentication information;
- precise or approximate location;
- contacts, messages, call logs, calendar information, or browsing history;
- photos, videos, audio recordings, camera data, or microphone data;
- payment, financial, health, biometric, or government identification information;
- advertising identifiers, device identifiers, or cross-app tracking data;
- diagnostic, analytics, engagement, or advertising data.
4. Information Stored Locally on the Device
When a user creates or completes a routine, the App may store the following information locally:
- routine names;
- step titles and their order;
- timer durations selected for individual steps;
- visual settings associated with a routine;
- the date and time of completed routines;
- a local history of up to the latest 30 completed routines.
This content is entered or generated during use of the App and is stored in the App's private local storage. KOWA does not have remote access to this content and cannot view, retrieve, restore, or modify it.
5. Purpose of Local Processing
The App processes locally stored information only to provide its requested functionality, including:
- displaying saved routines and steps;
- running and pausing step timers;
- allowing routines to be edited or deleted;
- showing the next step during an active routine;
- displaying recent completion history;
- preserving user-created content after the App is closed or the device is restarted.
6. Permissions
The current version of Step Lantern does not request access to sensitive Android permissions such as location, camera, microphone, contacts, telephone, SMS, nearby devices, or photos and files. The App also does not require the Android Internet permission for its core operation.
7. Internet, Servers, and Cloud Accounts
The App is designed to function without a KOWA-operated server, cloud account, or online database. KOWA does not upload user-created routines or completion history to its own systems.
8. Android Backup and Device Transfer
Depending on the user's Android version, device settings, manufacturer, and Google account configuration, Android may include the App's local preferences in a system backup or device-to-device transfer. Such processing is controlled by the operating-system or backup provider rather than KOWA.
Users who do not want system backup processing should review the backup settings available on their device or Google account. KOWA cannot access or manage a user's Android backup.
9. Third-Party Services and SDKs
The current version of the App does not integrate third-party advertising, analytics, attribution, social login, behavioral tracking, cloud synchronization, or crash-reporting SDKs. The App does not disclose user-created content to third parties.
The App may be downloaded through Google Play, which processes information independently under Google's own terms and privacy policy. KOWA does not control information processed directly by Google Play or the Android operating system.
10. Advertising and Automated Profiling
Step Lantern does not display third-party advertisements, create advertising profiles, use personal information for targeted advertising, perform automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, or track users across applications or websites.
11. Data Sharing, Sale, and Disclosure
Because KOWA does not receive personal information through the App, KOWA does not sell or share such information for monetary or cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. KOWA also does not disclose local routine content to service providers, data brokers, advertisers, or other businesses.
If KOWA is required to respond to a lawful request, KOWA can provide only information actually held by KOWA. The App's locally stored routine content is not accessible to KOWA.
12. Data Retention
Routine data remains on the device until the user edits or deletes a routine, clears the App's storage, or uninstalls the App. Completion history is limited by the App to the latest 30 completed routines, with older entries removed locally as new entries are added.
Copies maintained by an Android backup service may be retained according to the user's backup settings and the backup provider's own retention rules.
13. Data Deletion
Users can delete individual routines from within the App. To remove all locally stored Step Lantern information, users may clear the App's storage through Android settings or uninstall the App.
Because KOWA does not maintain user accounts or a remote database for Step Lantern, there is no server-side account or personal information for KOWA to delete upon request. KOWA cannot remotely erase data stored on a user's device or in a device backup controlled by another provider.
14. Data Security
The App relies on Android's application sandbox and private app storage to separate its local files from ordinary access by other applications. Users are responsible for maintaining reasonable device security, such as a screen lock, operating-system updates, and control over physical access to the device.
No method of electronic storage is completely secure. However, the App's offline design reduces exposure by not transmitting user-created routines to KOWA.
15. Children's Privacy
Step Lantern is a general-audience productivity application and is not specifically directed to children under 13 or the minimum applicable age in a user's jurisdiction. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.

16. Privacy Rights
Depending on location, users may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or complaints to a supervisory authority. These rights generally apply to personal information held by an organization.
KOWA does not receive or maintain the routines and completion history stored by Step Lantern. Users exercise control over that local content directly through the App and their device settings. If a user contacts KOWA by email, KOWA may process the email address and message only as necessary to respond to the inquiry.
17. Legal Bases for Contact Communications
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, KOWA processes information voluntarily provided in a support email to respond to the user's request, based on the user's request, KOWA's legitimate interest in providing support, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where applicable.
18. International Users
Step Lantern may be available in multiple countries. Since App content is stored locally and is not transmitted to KOWA, KOWA does not transfer that content internationally. Information voluntarily sent to KOWA by email may be processed where KOWA or its email service provider operates, subject to applicable safeguards and law.
19. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
The App does not perform web tracking, targeted advertising, or sale or sharing of personal information. Therefore, browser-based Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change the App's behavior.
20. Changes to this Privacy Policy
KOWA may update this Policy to reflect changes to the App, legal requirements, or privacy practices. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when the Policy changes. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or its store listing when appropriate.
